The Art of Gratitude And Appreciation - Developing A Thankful Mindset

It was a beautiful autumn afternoon. I decided to cosy up at home, put the fire on and continue with an Art piece I’d been commissioned to draw.


While sitting and connecting with my surroundings I thought about how lucky I was to be experiencing this beautiful moment– how lucky I am to be living.

I thought about how lucky I am to be doing what I passionately enjoy doing and that one day I will hopefully make a real contribution to others too.

I thought about all of the amazing family and friends that I have, the people that I've met along my journey and the people I have yet to meet.

Then, I thought about all of the experiences I've encountered. Those raw moments that have created me and shaped me into the person that I am today. 

While I've encountered many failures, rejections, and pain, they've all added an immense amount of value into my life.

Every experience in life I am grateful for …the painful moments motivated me and propelled me to grow and move forward in life and the pleasurable moments added richness and meaning that I'll never forget.  

Each and every experience I've learned from and they’ve given me the opportunity to grow and give.

I thought about how thankful I am of the decisions that I've made. 

The decision I made to never settle, to keep moving forward and to never give up, the decision I made to eventually quit my job and start my own coaching business and creative art business. These were all of the decisions that have created the joy I experience today.

Sometimes it’s all to easy not to take the time to think about the experiences and things that we are grateful for. We can be too busy focusing on achieving and becoming successful or worrying about our problems and emotions instead of putting things into perspective and realizing just how LUCKY we are.

The art of gratitude and appreciation is something we can all experience. Acknowledge the goodness in our lives.  When we are in a state of gratitude we are saying YES to life. 

We affirm that life is good even though there are negative aspects to life, we accept that life is about balance, without the rain there would be no rainbow - we just need to learn to dance in the rain.

Give yourself the gift of gratitude and appreciation on a regular basis. You deserve it. Give yourself the love, connection, positivity, appreciation, and respect. Fill yourself up with joy!

So today spend 10-15 minutes giving thanks and showing appreciation for everything in your life.
